As you can see in the survey Japanese prefer to choose the Asian contestants, that is because what considered as attractive for Japanese is cuteness. In the connections with Anime and Cosplay, this survey shows 2 main things :
1. This is another evidence of Anime characters based on Asians because Asians appearance is what Japanese find attractive, so making Anime based on westerners are unlogical and will only ruin Anime because as you can see Japanese don't find westerners attractive so Anime will not sell in Japan which is still the main and biggest market for Anime.
2. When given a choice Japanese will prefer Asian cosplayers than western cosplayers so this video is another evidence of how Japanese don't like western cosplayers.
The survey's result you see in the video are also reflected in Japanese marriage where in 2012 from around the 4% of Japanese guys who not marry with Japanese girls, 96% of them prefer to marry with other Asian girls [ know that when combined with Japanese girls the percentage reached over 99,6% Japanese guys prefer to marry with Asian girls ]. The only difference between the survey and the 2012 Japanese marriage statistic you see is in the survey almost all of the voters are Japanese girls while the contestants are also girls, so their preference mostly not by the contestants appearance but other things such as costumes, pose, etc. If almost all of the voters are Japanese guys then surely the Asian contestants will get almost all of the vote, this is proven by the only 2 Japanese guys voters shown in the survey's video the 2 of them prefer the Asian contestans.
As for the reason why the contestant from the Netherland got many votes are obviously because she hide most of her face which you can see clearly in the video so the Japanese voters can't see how she really look like, you can see the difference between her pictures and the other contestants pictures especially her close-up picture where she put a ridiculous amount of brightness effect to cover half of her face.
Note :
Know that the survey's video have been edited with the intention to shorten the video's length but in no way the survey's contents have been altered to change the result, so the result you see is the same result as the result from the survey's full-length video where the Asian contestants still win.
